Any circumstances or event we experience has no meaning on its own, we give them the meaning depending on our beliefs and values. In NLP, a frame is a border or boundaries which we put for ourselves that comes as a result of our beliefs and values.
In NLP, Reframing is the process by which we can get out of the frames that limit us and to get a better view of events and situations we experience.
There are two types of reframing they are Context Reframing and Content Reframing.
Context Reframing:
In context reframing we will be giving some value to a situation or a behaviour.
Example:
A man came to a psychiatrist and complain his wife is too stubborn.
Reframe: Good she has the tenacity to stand by you in your tough times.
Content Reframing:
In content reframing we would be changing the meaning of a situation or a behaviour to a positive or a resourceful one.
Example:
Usually in job interview I would get so nervous.
Reframe: A little bit of nervousness will let those interviewers know you really care for the job.
