Levels of learning is a simple model which makes us to get know where are we in the progression of learning.a new skill. On our way to mastery we all go through these stages or may stop at some points short of mastery. When we know our level along this progression we get hopes as we see ourselves in the right track.
In NLP learning can be divided into five stages which are as follow:
Unconscious Incompetence
Unconscious incompetence is a level where we do not know what we do not know. We are not interested in learning the skill as we know a little about the subject or unaware of the subject, we probably overestimate our abilities or underestimate it.
Conscious Incompetence
This stage happens at the beginning level mostly in a new endeavor where we get to know that there is a long way to go. In simple words this is a daunting stage where we can decide either to continue or stop it.
Conscious Competence
This is a stage where we realize that practice, effort and concentration will go in hand to give the best output. We know what we know and by applying what we learn we can yield the best outcome.
Unconscious Competence
This stage is a post-learning. Automatically we do the act or skill without any effort. Once we learn to drive a car, we need not to learn it again as the skill becomes unconscious and directed by our will.
Mastery
Once the skill is learned well, we produce the state of flow surrounding the performance. Times slows down, feed back and other elements of creativity are woven into the performance of act.
